A celebration of movement, legacy, and the artists who carry both forward.The Bates Department of Theater and Dance presents the Winter Dance Concert, a program honoring Marcy Plavin — founder of the Bates College dance program — through works by faculty and nationally renowned repertory artists. Students enrolled in Dance Repertory and Repertory Styles have spent the semester working directly alongside the choreographers, bringing their work to the stage of Schaeffer Theatre under the artistic direction of Scott McPheeters, in partnership with the Bates Dance Festival.Each choreographer arrives with a different definition of what dance can be.
